Nintendogs: Labrador & Friends is a pet simulation developed by Nintendo EAD in 2005 for the Nintendo DS. Players adopt and raise virtual dogs, primarily Labrador Retrievers, interacting through stylus-based touch controls. The gameplay loop involves walking dogs around different environments, feeding and grooming them, and playing fetch or other mini-games. Dogs learn tricks through training, which requires repeated practice with stylus rewards. Competitions let players test their dogs in obedience trials, disk-catching contests, and other events to earn money and unlock new items. Each dog has its own personality and responds differently to training. The game features multiple breeds to collect and environments to explore. Progression is non-linear, with players choosing which dogs to focus on and which activities to pursue.
