Rise of the Robots
Rise of the Robots is a 2-player action fighting game developed by Data Design in the early 1990s for the Game Gear. Players control a robot fighter in one-on-one combat against a series of opponents. Each battle represents a level, with difficulty increasing as players progress through the tournament. The game uses a straightforward control scheme—directional buttons for movement and attacks, with dedicated buttons for punches, kicks, and special moves. The single-screen fighting mechanic focuses on timing and positioning. Players can block to defend against attacks and execute combination moves. The portable Game Gear version adapts the arcade fighting action with simplified graphics and faster pacing suited to handheld play. Two players can compete directly, making it a competitive fighting experience on Sega's system.
