Shienryu
炎龙
Shienryu is a vertical-scrolling shoot-em-up released in arcades in 1997 by Warashi. Players pilot a dragon-shaped spacecraft through multiple stages, facing waves of enemies and large boss encounters. The game supports two-player simultaneous play, allowing cooperative action throughout. Players use a joystick to maneuver and buttons to fire standard shots and release special attacks. The spacecraft can be powered up by collecting items dropped by defeated enemies. Stages alternate between horizontal and vertical scrolling sections, providing some variety in the shooting action. The visuals feature detailed sprite-based graphics with fantasy and sci-fi themes blended together. Warashi designed the game with accessible controls and fast-paced combat aimed at arcade audiences.
