Tank Battalion is an action arcade game released by Namco in 1980. Players control a tank navigating a battlefield divided into grid-based stages filled with brick and steel walls. The objective is to destroy enemy tanks that emerge from the top of the screen while protecting a base structure at the bottom. Players shoot directional bullets to eliminate foes and can break through brick walls, though steel walls remain indestructible. Enemy tanks move and fire back, increasing in speed and aggression as stages progress. The game supports two simultaneous players, allowing cooperative play against the advancing enemy forces. Each stage presents a new arrangement of walls and enemies, and losing the base results in a game over regardless of remaining lives.
