Pokemon Black is a turn-based RPG for Nintendo DS released by The Pokémon Company in 2011. Players assume the role of a young trainer in the Unova region, capturing and training creatures called Pokémon to battle against other trainers and gym leaders. The game features hundreds of Pokémon species, each with unique types and abilities. Combat uses a menu-based system where you select moves, items, or switch creatures. You progress through the region challenging eight gym leaders to earn badges, then face the Elite Four. Along the way, you'll encounter rival trainers and a criminal organization. The game employs a level-based progression system with experience points earned from battles. Graphics display sprite-based creatures and environments typical of DS RPGs. Multiple difficulty modes and post-game content including legendary Pokémon encounters extend gameplay.
