Galmedes
Galmedes is a vertically scrolling shoot-em-up released in 1992 by Visco for arcades. Players pilot a spacecraft through multiple stages, battling waves of enemies and large bosses. The game uses an eight-directional joystick and two buttons, one for firing the main shot and one for launching bombs. As players collect power-ups, their ship's firepower increases, enabling wider and stronger attacks. Each stage ends with a boss encounter requiring pattern recognition and sustained fire. The game features colorful sprite-based graphics typical of early 1990s arcade hardware, with backgrounds depicting space environments and alien worlds. Galmedes follows conventions of the genre closely, offering a challenge that escalates across stages with increasing enemy density and projectile patterns.
